“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world” – John 17:16-18
The above bible verses are very interesting and encouraging to a Christian who is determined to make heaven. It is an assurance from the master himself which makes it double sure. Jesus Christ himself said that we are not of this world even as he is not of this world. Actually when we get born again we lose the earthly identity and gained the heavenly identity. In presenting the new birth Paul wrote by the Spirit of God in 2 Corinthians 5:17(KJV) “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”. Talking about our new birth the bible said in Colossians 1:12-13(KJV) “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saint in the light. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear son”. Jesus has delivered us from the darkness of this world by his redemptive work at Calvary. This world is ruled by the powers of darkness. Satan rules in the kingdom of darkness but through redemption which Jesus purchased for us with his blood we were removed from darkness unto the marvelous light of the gospel. That was why Paul instructs in Romans 12:2a (KJV) “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” To further buttress the redeems place in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:6(KJV) says “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”. Where exactly Christ is seated that we sit together with him “…….and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come”. This is our advantageous position in Christ Jesus hence he said we are not of this world as he is not of this world.
