…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Psalm 122:1 –9

“I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the LORD” – Psalm 122:1(KJV).

The above statement presents the picture of someone who loves being in God’s house. It is a picture of a man who delights in going to worship in God’s sanctuary. Truly, David was a man after God’s heart; his love for God is unparalleled, his delight is God’s sanctuary. As a young man David had developed an intimacy with God as a shepherd boy, who was almost forgotten in the grazing field. From being a shepherd David learnt a lot about God and following God. He saw God’s hand guiding and protecting him. He witnessed God’s shepherd love to man as he led his flock, which was clearly reflected in one of his most popular psalms: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in the green pasture; he leadeth me beside the still waters. …for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” – Psalm 23:1-4(KJV). Praising God was his delight, “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments” –Psalm 119:164(KJV). It is no wonder that David was a very successful king in Israel. His heart was sold completely to God.

The church or God’s sanctuary is very boring to most Christians. During worship they are busy checking the time praying for the service to end so they can bolt out to a more important place. In addition to praising God seven times a day, David visits the sanctuary three times daily to pray. “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice” – Psalm 55:17(KJV). It is where a man’s heart is that he delights to be always. David’s heart was for God, so he can always be found in God’s house. His heart is gladdened when visiting the house of God because he has an intimate relationship with God.

My dear friend, where are you always delighted to be? Some people are delighted to be in the drinking joints for hangout with friends, wasting and drinking away destinies. Some delight to be in a hotel room having immoral act with a woman or a man. Some delight to stay under the big mango tree playing draft or scrabble. Some take great delight in being at the cinema. Let us pause for a moment and think, how will these places improve my life and enhance my fulfilment of destiny? How can this places of my delight, as listed above, enable me to impact my world positively? Most times man disregards the very important aspect of life and get busy pursuing shadows. As David delights being in the house of the LORD with a heart sold out to God, God was busy shaping his destiny. He became a wonder to his world. At the age of seventeen he was an army General, and at thirty years he mounted the throne of Israel. With the many battles he fought he never lost any. David had a glorious destiny. He achieved tremendous success in life to the extent that his name is mentioned in heaven as Jesus being from the root of David. Unlike David, countless young men had been murdered in drinking joints, many destinies derailed on the laps of women. Many have drank themselves out of existence, while orders have smoked themselves to hell.

Dear reader, review your life and see where you are always delighted to go to and consider properly how it enhances your value in life. Evil association ruptures destiny. Do you prefer being in the presence of the destiny molder who can enhance your value in life, or you delight to be with friends who will facilitate the derailment from your destiny. Life is all about choices we make. I employ you to make the good choice of accepting Christ into your life for him to remold you for a greater value in life.

Prayer: Father, give me the grace for a delightsome covenant relationship with you.

Bro. Joel Ezeugo.
