…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 30/07/2018

Bible Reading: ISAIAH 14:1-end

“The Lord of host hath sworn, saying, surely, as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand” – Isaiah 14:24 (KJV).

God has a purpose for every person and everything he created. He has unique purpose that everything, everyone and every nation is meant to pursue. When he purposes a thing, he expects it to come to pass. God’s purpose could be rejected by a people but ultimately, his counsel will come to pass because he is able to raise stones to accomplish his purpose where people refused to co-operate with him. Sometimes, a person may pursue a different purpose that he was not created to pursue; this could lead to frustration or failure. It could be as a result of ignorance of God’s purpose or an outright rebellion.
When God purposes a thing, events may turn out to make it seem that that purpose will not come to pass. People could try to frustrate God’s counsel, time and circumstances may make it appear that God’s purpose will fail but ultimately, what God has purposed will come to pass.
In his hopelessness and despair, man may seek alternative means or ways out of the seemingly disappointment, but at the long run, man’s shortcut will end up becoming a problem. We must learn to wait on the Lord and never to give up hope even in the midst of threatening challenges that makes it look impossible. “And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God, all things are possible” – Mark 10:27 (KJV).

A practical example is the case of Abraham and Sarah who received the promise of Isaac from God, but events and time seemed to suggest that God’s purpose will never materialize. In attempt to bail God out, they had Ishmael which has become a major challenge to the whole world. Ultimately, what God purposed came to pass.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to trust your counsel.
