Bible Reading- Job 9; Heb. 9:23-28
“For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself” – Hebrews 9:26 (KJV)
The earthly tabernacle and the sacrifices of the priesthood are a shadow of the heavenly; they are not permanent. It is noteworthy to know that the sacrifice of old cannot blot and purify the conscience from sin; just temporal covering and cleansing. It was this imperfection that Christ Jesus came to handle when He became the perfect and eternal sacrifice for sin, and as our eternally ordained High Priest of a better order. He had to appear in the true tabernacle in heaven with his own blood, to mediate for our sin before God, who is the target of all human disobedience.
In Christ Jesus, you are fully redeemed and become acceptable to God. You do not need any addition or subtraction of anything to be acceptable to God. All you require for a life of righteousness, holiness, and fullness of the Holy Spirit are embedded in what Christ accomplished. Salvation is totally and completely provided for in the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ. He is still appearing before God interceding on our behalf every day.
Everyone has appointment with death whether now or later. Anyone who dies shall be left with no other option than to face God’s judgment. The only escape is if one utilizes the provision that has been made available in His blood. The submission of the writer of the Hebrews is stunning in verse 28: “so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation”. Let it be clear to you that you are included in the salvation Jesus purchased for us considering the phrase “so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many…” You are the reason He appeared before God. Do not waste the privilege.
Prayer Points: Father, thank you for the complete work of Jesus Christ for my redemption. Help me to justify this by appearing before you in his righteousness and holiness in Jesus name. Amen
