The bible is a book that explains itself. And it is always better to use the word of God to explain some other word of God. In John 1:1, the bible says in the beginning was the word, the word was with God and the word was God. If the word is God, then it implies that all we need is an understanding of the Word of God to really know who God is.
But several people have come to the world to deceive the world that they are God or prophet of God. But the word of God clearly tells us how to know who God is. It says believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God. Every spirit that performs miracle but does not confess that Jesus came in the flesh is not of God. Many do all sorts of things these days in the name of God. Some make people to eat grass, ants etc in the name of God. Others ask children of God to lie down and they step on them! These cannot be from God.
Jesus gives us the example of a servant leader and will not lord things over his children. So we need to watch and pray so that we would not be deceived. Remember God says in Mark 13:6 KJV :For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ ; and shall deceive many.
Prayer: Father, help me to discern every Spirit and to know who is yours.
