Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 32&33; John 18:21-24
“But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the pass over: will ye therefore that I release unto you the king of the Jews? Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber” John 18: 39-40(kjv)
Making choice should be properly guided with emotion-free mind. One must not be hasty in such an act as it goes far beyond the presence. The choice we make today can make or mar our future. A hasty choice can lead to a gloomy future and adversely affect and place an eternal burden on the future generation. Most of the burdens most people are carrying today are as a result of the choices made by their forefathers. The Jews made the historic Choice that did not only affect their Nation but had serious implication and placed a burden on the entire world. On this historic, day of the above verses of scriptures, the world, through the representation of the Jewish nation, chose a robber and insurrectionist to a righteous and loving Saviour and Deliverer. They chose to go with a robber and rejected the God-sent Saviour of humanity. This was an unguided prejudice that imparts on the entire world today.
Pride that is beclouded by ignorance and undue spiritual bigotry drove the High Priest and his cohort to convince the people to choose death instead of life. A diligent search into their history and prophecy would have pointed them to the truth but they were beclouded by their self-glory and outward show of spirituality which drove them to reject the Son of God and accept to live with Satan and his children of destruction. Talking about this historical choice made by humanity, the bible said in John 1:10 (KJV) “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came to his own, and his own received him not.” What a great irony. We must be properly guided to make choices that will impact the present and the future positively. Our choice must be based on God’s word and should be prayerfully taken. We must avoid haste when it comes to making a choice. We must bear on deep thinking through relying on the Holy Spirit to make good choices. We must consider the impact of our choices on our unborn children.
The true source of good choices is the Holy Spirit, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you in all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come” John 16:13(KJV). My dear reader, for you to have the Holy Spirit dwell in you for guidance you must accept Christ into your life. To avoid grave mistakes in life we must, of necessity, seek and accept Christ into our lives as Lord and Saviour. I urge you to make this life decision now.
Prayer: Oh Lord guide me through this turbulent world to make my choices properly guided by your Spirit. IJN
