Topic: Do unto others
Bible Reading: Obadiah 1; Revelation 8.
Memory Verse: “For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.” Obadiah 1:15 (KJV)
Everybody wants to be loved and cared for, God expects you to do the same to others. This is why the commandments of the laws were summarized into two; In Matthew 22:37-39 (KJV), “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” When in Genesis 37:17-28; the brothers of Joseph planned to kill him and later sold him as a slave to the Ishmeelites, they showed they did not love him as themselves. Otherwise they would not have done such things to him. None of them would have loved anyone to do such a thing to him but they all conspired to execute such an evil plan against their brother. They regretted it though but they were not truly remorseful otherwise they would not have lied against their father in Genesis 50:15-21when they thought Joseph might revenge the evil they did to him!
It is lack of love for neighbours that makes a robber to forcefully disposses another of his rightful belongings. Its also lack of love that drives a politician to embezzle money meant for the public good. Will he want such a thing to be done to him if roles were reversed?
This is what should agitate your mind at anytime you are about doing anything to someone else; would you be glad if such an action is taken against you. Where it is in the negative, you should immediately stop and ensure you do not go ahead with such an action. If you are a true child of God, you will be guided by this principle in obedience to the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ. Obadiah 1:15 (KJV) says, “For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.”
Are you ready for this? If not, it is important that you quickly call on the Almighty God and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, repent of your sins, ask Him for mercy and forgiveness and make up your mind to live a life of obedience to His word going forward. He is ready to accept and forgive you as stated in Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV), “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Prayer point: Father, in the mighty name Of Jesus Christ, please help me to do unto others only those things I want them to do unto me.
