Topic: God Hates Injustice
Bible Reading: Genesis 31,32; Matthew 9:20-38
“Thus God had taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me” Genesis 31:9 (KJV).
The rate at which people cheat today is something we must wake up to and do whatever is in our power to counter. God hates injustice; and as a God of love, injustice is evil to Him. As a God of justice He expects us to express righteousness and justice on His behalf on earth in all our dealings (Psalm 89:14).
A lot of people cheat others to their own hurt. If only men will set aside greed and be more sensitive, they will be guided to see clearly and act justly. Laban, Jacob’s employer and father-in-law, was sensitive. He said to Jacob, “…tarry, for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.” Genesis 30:27 (KJV). Yet, greed did not allow him to keep to the agreement he had with his employee and son-in-law, Jacob.
The result? Jacob told Laban’s daughters, “..God had taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me” Genesis 31:9 (KJV). Those who treat others unjustly tend to lose even their own belongings. This should serve as a warning to employers who cheat and treat their workers unfairly. The Bible says a worker deserves his wages (1 Timothy 5:18). It is even more dangerous to cheat a blessed man; ask Laban. Reneging on an earlier agreement between you and that worker for no just cause could cost you more than you can ever imagine.
God loves people, especially those the society ignores. That is one of the reasons why Job was blessed in the bible (Job 29:4,11-17). When you come across people in business do all you can to treat them fairly as God’s representative here on earth. By divine favour, Egypt was spoiled by the Israelites because of many years of injustice meted out to them (Exodus 12:36).
Learn from these and treat people fairly. You never can tell who that man or woman working with you or for you is. Treat them fairly.
Action Plan: Make conscious effort to treat everyone you do business with fairly. If you are an employer and you are delegating duties that will involve remuneration of your workers, kindly do well to monitor all being done under your watch.
