“Now therefore be not grieved nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life” – Genesis 45:5(KJV).
Sometimes in life people do things out of envy or wickedness to hurt us. We often wonder why God permit certain things to happen to us. This sometimes makes us to doubt his love and commitment. If God is who the scriptures says he is (a loving, a powerful, caring and merciful God) why will he not stop some of the things that appear painful to us. He has the power to stop everything and he knows everything that happens to us, but appear to do nothing about our situation. We often misinterpret God’s dealings because we do not understand why he allows certain things to happen to us.
Why does Joseph have to go through those painful path of life, being separated from his family for having and sharing his God-given dream? We draw conclusion so quick without watching the whole movie of life. What we fail to understand is that ‘’…… all things work together for good to them that love the God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” – Romans 8:28(KJV)
Sometimes God orchestrates events by creating the pathway we should take, sometimes our pains could be an attack of the devil, the wickedness or envy of men, or our own mistakes and failure but whichever it is, God can cause it to work for our good if we can trust him to help us. The patriarchs, moved with envy sold Joseph into Egypt, but God was with him (Acts 7:9). God in his infinite wisdom knew that there will be famine in the whole world and Egypt will be the place where Joseph’s dream will be fulfilled. The brothers sold him out of envy unknown to them that God used them to send Joseph to the place of fulfillment of his dream. Their attempt to stop the dream was used by God to promote the dream. God sent him ahead of them to preserve life. In the dark moments of Joseph’s life, God was working behind the scene. We do not usually see what happens behind the scenes of life but we can trust God to handle events to our favour, for his thoughts for us are thoughts of good and not of evil to give us an expected end. Never misinterpret heaven’s silence for inaction or negligence.
PRAYER: God, help me to trust you even when I cannot trace you in my life’s circumstances.
