TOPIC: SERVICE TO GOD SECURES YOUR SALVATION
Bible Reading: Exodus 13-15; Matthew 19:1-15
“And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.” Exodus 3:8 (KJV)
Since the fall of man in the garden of Eden he has been in spiritual bondage to the devil. The aim of the devil is to make man serve him and take man’s focus off God. When our focus is off God we have consented to remaining in spiritual bondage and darkness. Only God can save man in such situation, especially after a cry. God knows our needs better than we do but wants us to ask in agreement with His will for us. And when He saves a man He brings him into His service.
God heard the cry of the children of Israel in Egypt (Exodus 2:22-23) and told Moses in Exodus 3:7-8 “And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; [8] And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.” The good land here is a place of service where all they need comes to them.
When God comes for a man He stays till the captive is freed. Since there is no vacuum in life a saved person must be taken into the service of the one who brought him out of bondage lest he be re-taken by his captor. Many, after being saved tend not to remain with the One who saved them. God repeatedly told Pharoah through Moses, “let my people go that they may serve me.” The purpose of your being saved is to serve Him.
Are you saved? Then ask God for His grace to serve Him. Serving God helps us not to be re-taken by our captor and it is a way of showing gratitude to our rescuer.
Prayer: Father, help me to remain in service to You for the rest of my life
