Bible Reading: Numbers. 28 – 29. Mark: 9:1-29
“And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him” Mark 9:7(KJV)
The above event took place at the mount of Transfiguration. One of the many attestations of God to the Sonship and Deity of Christ. God who sent His Son to pay the price of sin committed by humanity continuously made confirmation of His mission as emissary of His love towards us. The three disciples that went to the mountain with Christ where enveloped in the cloud of glory and beheld the transformation of Christ to His glorious state. At the mount they beheld Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. These two represent the Law and the Prophets. Jesus Christ, who is the manifestation of the love of God, is the consummation of the law and the prophets (Matthew 22:40). The Law was a pointer to righteousness and Christ is the righteousness of God without the law manifested and witnessed by the law and prophets (Romans 3:21). This is the righteousness from God which we receive by faith. “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through the faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith” Philippians 3:9 (NKJV).
Christ is the fulfilment of the Law and Prophets. “Think not that I came to destroy the Law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil” Matthew 5:17 (KJV). The Law and the Prophets ended with John who is the entrance point to the Dispensation of Grace. Jesus Christ was the manifestation of God’s love to humanity. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness (Romans 10:4), He also imputed us with His righteousness through His love (2 Corinthians 5:21), hence the scripture asserted in Romans 13:10 (KJV), “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.” This assertion is predicated on the ten commandments which stressed on cordial neighbourliness. We should bear in mind that Christ’s mission is a product of God’s love and the righteousness of God. We can therefore postulate that love fulfilled the righteousness of which the law was a pointer to.
Jesus Christ, therefore, being the symbol of divine love fulfilled the whole intention of the law, which is righteousness. This is God’s masterpiece of divine wisdom which produced the consummation of the redemption of humanity. It was for this purpose that Moses representing the Law and Elijah representing the prophet had to handover the completion of the Law and Prophets which ended with John to Him who is the Fulfilment of all. It is no wonder then that the bible stated, “And Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” Luke 24:27 (NKJV)
My dear reader, the scriptures says in Acts 4:12(NKJV), “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Jesus Himself reiterated this in John 14:6(KJV), “Jesus saith unto them, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me.” It is imperative therefore that you know that the multiplication of different channels to God as propagated by worldly religions is the devil’s effort to deprive humanity their right to redemption in Christ. Come to Jesus today and be saved and be made whole. God, through His Son Jesus Christ, has offered humanity escape from the wrath of God that will soon come upon the children of disobedience. All that you require to be saved has been provided by the Almighty God leaving you with no excuse for not being saved.
God’s hands are stretched forth to receive you to Himself. Urgently respond to the Love of God which has been extended to you in Christ Jesus. Through Jesus Christ you have been freed from all condemnation, for the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death. “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit” Romans 8:3-4(KJV)
Prayer: Father I thank you for the redeeming love in Christ Jesus.
