Topic: Who is Christ to you?
Bible Reading: Judges 10-11; Luke 9;1-36
Memory Verse: “He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.” Luke 9:20 (KJV)
Jesus Christ means different things to diverse people. Some see Jesus mainly as their problem solver. They believe he is just to bear their burden. Truly He said in Matthew 11:28 (KJV), “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” So he is ready to take off your burden.
Some others see him as their provider. They believe they are Christians so that all their needs may be met. And He can meet that expectation because the bible says in Philippians 4:19 (KJV), “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Such needs may be physical, emotional, marital, financial or spiritual. He has the capacity to meet all.
Others see him as a Counsellor. Whenever they have any guidance issue, they will call on Christ to counsel and guide them. And indeed, their expectations will not be cut short because Psalm 32:8 (KJV) states, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” He further opened the door in Matthew 7:7 (KJV) when he says “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
Another set is concerned about making heaven and they believe Jesus Christ is their passport to the kingdom. John 3:3 (KJV), “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
But Jesus Christ is more than all these and a true child of God should have access to all the blessings highlighted above and more. But to have that access, you need to be sanctified. Sanctification means transformation of Character to that of Jesus. When your character is transformed, then you begin to bear the fruit of the spirit such as Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. Once you become sanctified, you begin to live a life to please God Almighty. May God bless you.
Prayer point:
Father, give me the grace to be transformed to the nature of Christ in Jesus name.
