…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 12/05/2025

Topic: God Still Cares About You

Bible reading: 2 Kings 4-5; John 4:1-30

Memory verse: “The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. [26] Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.” John 4:25-26 (KJV)

The first person Jesus revealed Himself to as the Messiah was a woman of Samaria who was apparently going through rejection because of her way of life. Her name was not mentioned but her past was described; She had been married five times to five different men and the man she is presently staying with is not her husband. She is, no doubt, the talk of the town. No wonder she decided to come to the well in the later part of the day when in fact it is the custom of women to go to the well in the morning.

Jesus never condemned any and still doesn’t. He came to rescue man from all his troubles and this woman is deep in trouble because her heart is heavy. But after an encounter with the Messiah, this same woman, the bible says, “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, [29] Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” John 4:28-29 (KJV) She immediately became an evangelist with all the heaviness in heart gone!

God also showed up to the woman whose husband is late and left behind a huge debt with the creditor threatening to take her two sons as bondmen. Elisha came to her rescue by instructing her to borrow many vessels from her neighbours, shut the door behind her and pour from the vessels until it is full. This miracle God performed through Elisha helped the widow to settle her debt and sustained her living (2Kings 4:1-7)

Help was also extended to a wealthy woman in Shunem who is without a child and her husband is old. Because of her heart of kindness she was divinely gifted a child. God came again to her rescue when she lost the child. Prophet Elisha went again to her place and brought the child back to life (2 Kings 4:8-37).

All these instances are situations still being faced by many today; rejection, poverty and childlessness. But time and again, we have seen God come to the rescue of people who may not be serving Him but are heavy in heart over issues of life. The bible tells us in Hebrew 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

God cares about you. Never let that situation take over your mind and heart. Look up to God and He will come good for you.

Prayer: Father, my heart and my mind are fixed on You. Let the consciousness of Your presence take over me in Jesus name.
