TOPIC: MORE THAN THE WIND
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 10-12; John 13:18-38
Memory Verse: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.”- John 14:16 (KJV)
The Holy Spirit is more than wind, fire, water, or an influence. He is a Personality that every child of God ought to be well acquainted with. We look just like the Holy Spirit because we were made in His image and likeness. Job said, “The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” Job 33:4 (KJVS).
The Holy Spirit is the voice of God. He walked in the garden of Eden and fellowshipped with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:8). He is the One that makes the Word of God come alive to us; without Him, we cannot understand a single thing in the Word because He is the voice of God’s Word. He brings the Word of God to us in a way that we can understand. When God says something, it is the Holy Spirit that does the work. He is the person that carries out the work of the Father here on earth.
In John 15:26, Jesus said the Holy Spirit is the one that proceeds from the Father. What this means is that God the Father doesn’t leave His throne, but it is His Holy Spirit that goes forth to create and craft what He releases His Word to do. He is the person of the Godhead that functions in different places at the same time. Everything God does everywhere, He does by the Holy Spirit.
When Moses told the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV), “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” ‘The Lord your God’ is referring to the Holy Spirit because 2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the LORD is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
The Holy Spirit is the Lord that goes before us today and He never leaves us nor forsakes us because Jesus introducing the Holy Spirit in our text said, “And I will pray the Father, and he will give you ANOTHER HELPER, that he may abide with you forever.”
Prayer: Holy Spirit of God, I love You and I acknowledge Your Presence in my life. Thank You for opening my eyes to the truth of God’s Word and revealing Jesus to me.
