TOPIC: DARKNESS TO LIGHT
Bible Reading: Job 19-20; Acts 9:23-43
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:” – Ephesians 5:8 (KJV)
When it comes to the identity of the new creation in Christ, Jesus, Himself calls the believer light. Jesus Christ confidently declared in John 8:12 (KJV), “… saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” It is important to hear what Jesus said in this verse. He is not saying that God’s light shines through Him rather He says that He is the Light. In the same way, Jesus calls us light. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14, “YOU ARE THE LIGHT of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Apostle Paul in our text says that we were once darkness. Notice he did not say we were walking in the darkness, he said we were darkness. It does not matter what we did or didn’t do, we were darkness but that has changed. Now in Christ, we are light in God. We are the sons and daughters of light. We bring hope to the hopeless world. We are the solution. We are the answer to our world.
It is important to know that as a child of God, He is not just shining His light through you rather you are light just as He is light. You are not the medium through which His light shines rather you are the very light that He shines into the darkness. You are the example of success and the good life in Christ. We are exactly like Jesus was in His earth walk. This is the truth and the consciousness that you must walk with every day of your life as a believer. May we continue to shine as the light of our world thisday and always.
Prayer: Father, thank you for making me the light of my world in Jesus Name.
