TOPIC: HELP FROM ABOVE
Bible Reading: Isaiah 37-38, Philippians 3
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth – Psalms 121:1-2 (KJV)
There’s no person on earth that makes it through life and becomes all that God wants him/her to become without the help of another person.
It is a pitiful situation to be when you don’t have help from anywhere. Just like the sick impotent man at the pool of Bethesda told Jesus, “… Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.” John 5:7 (KJV). It is an abnormality when any child of God finds himself or herself in a place without help. That place where you don’t have anybody to help you, where the needed help is delayed or denied.
But thanks be to God, the Father, who never designed for any child of His to be found in any of these situations. It is important to position yourself in a place where you can constantly receive and enjoy the help that comes from God – from above. You have to stop looking for help in the wrong places because you will never find it. To receive and enjoy God’s help, you must turn your eyes completely to Him alone like we see the Psalmist doing in our text. The Psalmist saw the mountains that surrounded Jerusalem but refused to put his trust in any earthly frame but rather wholly in God. The truth is, without God, the help of man is vain! Isaiah 31:1 (KJV) says, “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!”
When you look completely to God especially in prayer, He raises help for you; sometimes from least expected sources.
The first and most important help is the gift of Jesus in your heart in the person of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John 14:26 (KJV), “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” You have God as your Helper in the person of the Holy Ghost in you to look up to. As you go about your day keep declaring, “Thank You Holy Spirit my Helper, I can do all things because you empower me and I believe and receive all the association needed to move to the next level in Jesus’ Name.”
When your confidence is rested solely on God, you’ll begin to see Him raise people from all over to come and help you because true help is from above.
Prayer: Father, I look to You today because You are my Help, strength and comfort. I receive help from You today in Jesus’ Name.
