Bible Reading: Michah 4-5; Revelation 11.
Memory Verse: “Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.” Micah 5:9 (KJV).
Jesus said in Matthew 5:44 (KJV), “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” rather than planning how to avenge offences. Jesus Christ is love and loves everyone whether believers or unbelievers. For you to be like Him, you will have to love others unconditionally such that you will have no bitterness against anyone, you will live a life bearing the fruit of the Spirit and you will not have room for vengeance, envy, hatred or any of the works of the flesh.!
God Almighty will then be your protector because you will be living a life pleasing unto Him and He will fight your battles and wars because He says in Romans 12:19 (KJV), “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
Why then do you fight your battles yourself? It is often as a result of ego, your flesh is telling you not to allow yourself to be cheated, intimidated or be taken for granted but on the other hand, you are supposed to be dead to the flesh once you give your life to Christ! The Bible says in Galatians 5:16-17 (KJV), “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. [17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
Living a godly life has been made possible for you by God for He gives you the Holy Spirit the moment you accept Him as your Lord and Saviour (Ezekiel 36:26-27 KJV). When you follow His leading which is often by a still small voice within you, He will guide you on your daily living. No matter your circumstance as long as you are living to please God, “Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.” Micah 5:9 (KJV). This implies complete surrender to the Lord Jesus and obedience to His word. However, you need to study the word regularly to know Him and His instructions so that you can obey Him.
Prayer point: Father, help me to live a life of total surrender and obedience to You for the remaining days of my life in Jesus name.
