“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulders, and his yoke from off they neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing” Isaiah 10:27 (KJV).
The anointing of the Holy Spirit removes friction from the life of a Christian. It breaks the yoke of affliction bringing freedom to the believer in Christ. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life is the anointing. He empowers the believer to do the work of ministry by granting him unction to function and utterance for effective ministry. The anointing within which is the indwelling Holy Spirit directs, guides, teaches and empowers the believer while the anointing upon the believer is the enabling for service. “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” Luke 4:18 (KJV). The anointing is divine empowerment for ministry. When the believer consecrates his life to the service of God, the Holy Spirit anoints him for service. It takes openness, brokenness and obedience to operate in the anointing. While the anointing within empowers for personal life, the anointing upon the believer is for others, to enable him render service to others. Jesus told the disciples to tarry in the upper room until they were endued with power from on high. “But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” Acts 1:8 (KJV). God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.
Every believer needs the anointing for effective service and fruitful Christian life. To walk in the anointing will require faith, it will require that one have love for God and for people, it will demand commitment to service, since the purpose of the anointing is for service and victorious Christian life. It will require that one stay in the word because the anointing will not be so effective without the word. It will demand that the believer spend quality time in God’s presence and develop intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
The anointing teaches us “But ye have an unction from the Holy one, and ye know all things” 1 John 2:20 (KJV). We received anointing at Holy Ghost baptism but we have to develop our faith to believe and walk in the anointing. “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him” 1 John 2:27 (KJV).
PRAYER: Lord, help me to walk in the anointing so I can render fruitful service.
