“And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm” Acts 28:5 (KJV)
The word of God promises divine protection for God’s people. We are not as vulnerable as the ordinary man out there who has no relationship with God. As covenant children God protects us from satanic attacks and life’s affliction. But for the protection of God, Satan would have destroyed us. It is truly of the Lord’s mercy that we are not consumed, for many are the afflictions of the righteous but God delivers him from them all. He ensures that the wrath of the wicked does not rest on the righteous.
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” Mark 16:17-18 (KJV).
While we acknowledge the fact that there is an enemy, Satan, up against us whose mission is to kill, steal and destroy, we must know and believe in God’s love and care for us. He promised never to leave nor forsake us. Even in the burning furnace of fire and storms of life, God shows himself strong and mighty on our behalf. Note this for sure, “No weapon fashioned against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shall condemn, this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord” Isaiah 54”17 (KJV).
The psalmist testifies, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of shadow the of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” Psalm 23:4 (KJV). He admits that God is his refuge and that God delivers him from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. For this, he shall not be afraid for the terror by night nor for the arrows by day, for the pestilence that works in darkness; nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand can fall at his side and ten thousand at his right hand but it shall not come near him. He further confesses that no evil will befall him nor any plague come near his dwelling, for the Lord will give his angels charge over him to keep him in all his ways[Psalm 91:2-11].
In this perilous time, where crime and terror is in the increase, believers need to believe and trust God for protection. Our protection lies only in Christ, for vain is the reliance on the arm of the flesh for our safety.
Apostle Paul just escaped the storm that threatened to drawn their ship only because of God’s protection. As they warmed themselves for cold, he picked some sticks to increase the fire but he was attacked by a viper; everyone concluded that he would die as a result of the poisonous venom of the viper but they were shocked that he was not hurt. This further confirmed the promise that nothing shall by any means hurt us if we dare to trust God for protection.
Prayer: I believe you Lord to protect me from the wicked onslaughts of the devil. In Jesus Name
