TOPIC: YOUR JUBILEE SEASON
Bible Reading: Isaiah 22-23; Ephesians 3
“To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” — Luke 4:19 (KJV)
The phrase “acceptable year of the Lord” refers to a season of God’s favour, grace, restoration, and freedom. It echoes the Old Testament concept of the Jubilee, when the trumpet was sounded, debts were released, land was restored, and servants were set free (Leviticus 25:9–10). In Luke 4, Jesus read from the prophet Isaiah and declared, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives… To preach the acceptable year of the Lord” Luke 4:18–19 (KJV). When Jesus stood before the people and declared these words, He revealed that the long-awaited season of God’s favour had arrived in Him.
Jubilee in Israel was experienced only once every fifty years, meaning that some people might never have experienced it in their lifetime. But Jesus became the fulfilment of what Jubilee represented. In Him, restoration, freedom, healing, and God’s abundant grace are no longer limited to a particular year or season. The trumpet that announced Jubilee pointed prophetically to the good news of the Gospel. Leviticus 25:9 says, “Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.” Today, the Gospel announces the freedom and new life that are available through Christ. Jesus is our Jubilee—not once every fifty years, but every day.
Therefore, do not postpone your expectation of God’s goodness to another day or another season. In Christ, you have entered into a new covenant of grace, freedom, and restoration. Receive by faith what Christ has made available to you and let your heart rejoice in the finished work of Jesus. Your Jubilee is not merely a future event; Christ Himself is your Jubilee, and His grace is available to you today. Lift your voice in victory and celebrate the One who has made all things new.
*Prayer: Father, thank You for the miracle of our Jubilee in Christ Jesus. Thank You for the freedom, grace, restoration, and new life I have received through Him. Help me to walk daily in the fullness of all that Christ has made available to me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
