TOPIC: JESUS IS ALWAYS WILLING
Bible Reading: Isaiah 59–61; 1 Thessalonians 4
“And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.” — Mark 1:41 (KJV)
Throughout Jesus earthly ministry, he demonstrated compassion towards those who were sick and suffering. Acts 10:38 tells us, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Healing was a significant part of the good work Jesus did as He ministered to people. His ministry reveals the compassionate heart of God towards those who suffer and reminds us that we can confidently bring our needs before Him in faith.
In Mark 1:40, a leper came to Jesus, knelt before Him, and said, “If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean”. The man did not doubt Jesus’ ability to heal him; he was uncertain about His willingness. Many people today struggle with the same question, wondering whether God is willing to heal them or whether sickness is a punishment for their sins or a lesson He wants them to learn. However, Jesus’ response to the leper was clear and compassionate: “I will; be thou clean” (Mark 1:41). Through this encounter, Jesus demonstrated His willingness to respond to the man with compassion and power. We must be careful not to assume that every sickness is a punishment for personal sin or that every illness has the same cause. Instead, we can look to Jesus’ ministry, trust in God’s character, and bring our needs to Him without fear or condemnation.
Jesus also demonstrated His authority to forgive sins when He healed the paralytic, saying, “But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins” (Mark 2:10 (KJV). The Psalmist declares, “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases” Psalm 103:3 (KJV). These Scriptures reveal God’s mercy and His power to forgive and heal. Just as you trusted Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, approach Him with faith, knowing that He cares about your well-being. Although we may not always understand how or when healing will come, we can remain confident in His compassion, seek prayer and support from the body of Christ, and obtain appropriate medical care when needed. Never allow fear or condemnation to keep you from bringing your needs before the Lord. Trust His loving heart, stand on His Word, and continue to look to Him for strength, restoration, and healing, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer: Father, thank You for revealing Your compassion and love through Jesus Christ. Strengthen my faith in Your goodness and help me to approach You confidently with every need in Jesus Name.
