“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord” – Romans 12:19(KJV) .
Our God is the God of vengeance. The Psalmist said “When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid; The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;” – 2 Samuel 22: 5-6(KJV) . In Psalm 94:1-2(KJV) the Psalmist called on the God of vengeance to show himself mighty on his behalf “O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud” Vengeance belong to God. We must work by the scriptural injunction in our walk with God. The spirit of vengeance in a man can lead him to destruction. The spirit of revenge drove Ahithophel to suicide. Our ability to revenge for evil done to us is limited, it is only God that can fully repay the evil of men. Like Apostle Paul admonished “recompense no man evil for evil” – Romans 12: 17a(KJV). Our believe and trust in God must be total knowing that no father will watch with delight the oppression of his son by wicked people when he has the ability to destroy them. We must believe that no injustice done to us escape the knowledge of God and trust him to repay. God is the master avenger who takes delight in repaying our adversaries for their evil. In Deut. 32:35a(KJV) “Vengeance is Mine, and recompense:” We should avoid a situation where we fall into sin due to the rage for vengeance in our heart. We must learn to hand it all to God, for He alone can adequately repay. In Deut. 32:41(KJV) God’s word says “If I wet my glittering sword, and my hands take hold on judgement, I will render vengeance to my enemies, and repay those who hate Me”. Who are God’s enemies and haters? These are the people whose actions contradict divine purpose and intention. They are those who refused to obey divine instructions instead they do the opposite. These are they who reject God’s word and are in constant battle to frustrate God’s word. They are they that hates and fight against God’s children. These are the enemies and haters of God whom the Lord’s vengeance is directed at. Serving God entitles the believers to God’s vengeance against their enemies. The scriptures says in 2 Thess. 1:6 “Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you”. For you the believer that is reading this devotional message hear what God is saying in Isaiah 63:4(KJV) “For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come”. Until vengeance is executed deliverance will not be complete. So God is moving to execute the vengeance that is in His heart in other to complete your deliverance. Praise God!
Prayer: My father to whom vengeance belongs, arise and fight for me against my adversaries in Jesus name.
