“Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 1:6-8(KJV).
Our scriptural quote for today talks of the testimony of Christ. What then is the testimony of Christ?
The testimony of Christ is revealed in 1 John 5:10-12(NKJV) “He who believes in the son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His son. And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life”. – 1 John 5: 10-12.
The testimony of Christ is that He is the Son of God who brought us eternal life through redemption. Christ stated this in John 10:10(NKJV) “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”.
Also the testimony of Christ is that He brought immortality to man as revealed in 2 Timothy 1:10(NKJV) “But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” This is the testimony of Jesus spoken of by John at the Isle called Patmos in Rev.1:2(NKJV) “who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, and to all that he saw”.
The testimony of Christ contain the announcement of his arrival by the prophets and heaven, his growing up, his temptation, his mighty deeds, which include raising the dead, walking on top the water etc, etc., his death and resurrection. Also included are his mighty acts today as the gospel is preached all over the world – this is the embodiment of the testimony of Christ. It is these testimony the saints’ use in waging war against the powers of darkness alongside his blood. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony,…” – Rev. 21:11(NKJV).
Every born again child of God has the testimony of Christ which include his saving grace. Let us endeavor therefore to keep our conversation pure and our life blameless as we wait for his glorious appearance and confirmation.
Prayer: Father grant me the grace to stay pure and blameless while waiting for the glorious appearance of Christ Jesus.
