“Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?” 1 Corinthians 5:6 KJV
Imagine you have some clean water in a vessel for drinking and somehow a baby being nursed defecates and a small portion of it drops inside that vessel that contains the clean water , will it contaminate the water or not?
would anyone be willing to drink the water?
Certainly not, the small feaces poluted the water and no one would like to drink it. This is how our life is. When we maintain a life of holiness for sometime and later a small sin is committed. That sin automatically polutes the whole body and makes it unpure! 1 Corinthians 5:6 KJV says “Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?”
Apostle Paul actually made this statement to let the brethren of Corinth knew that a sinner that is not corrected will cause others to fall. We should therefore not keep malice or do any wickedness to such a person. We should correct him in love. This explains why he said in 1 Corinthians 5:7-8 KJV “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth”.
This is the beginning of the second half. We have reasons to ensure that we examine ourselves and cleanse any form of unrighteousness in our lives.
Prayer: Everything that will not allow me to live a life of righteousness, father, remove it from me now in Jesus name.
