“The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife”. – 1 Corinthians 7:4 KJV.
God created man and woman and ordained that a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. ( Gen 2:24) God further stated in Gen 2:25 that both were naked and were not ashamed.
This means they should know each other’s weaknesses, strengths and secrets and have no cause to hide anything for each other. This is why your spouse should be your best friend.
Apostle Paul further gave more insight into Gods expectations of a godly couple; 1 Corinthians 7:4 KJV says “The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife”. So the husband has authority over the wife’s body and the wife has authority over the husband’s body. This means that whatever a woman wants to do with her body should be with the consent of the husband and vice versa. So the issue of polygamy or polyandry cannot arise.
This is why the woman should therefore not deny her husband sex and the husband should not deny his wife sex. This is part of the responsibility of marriage. This is important so that none of the couple is tempted outside by Satan. It is therefore wrong for a woman to say she is not ready for sex to her husband or vice versa except when both have jointly agreed to stay off because of fasting and prayer. (1 Cor 7:5).
Marriage is so sacred to God such that He does not support separation. This is clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 KJV “And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife”
No wonder Jesus says in Matthew 19:5-6 KJV “And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and the twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder”.
