“And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters” 1 Chronicles 14:3(KJV).
Breakthrough as well as break down could be a problem where there is no vision or where purpose is not known. Anything can be abused. “Where purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable” Dr Myles Munroe. Opportunities, money, time and greatness can be abused.
While most people have problem attaining greatness in life despite their toiling and struggle, some attain greatness but it turns out to be their greatest undoing. True leadership begins with self leadership. Nobody should aspire to lead others who have not first led himself. The first person you lead is you. Self leadership has to do with being in charge of your thoughts, your emotions or feelings, your time, your finances, your actions, your choices and your decisions.
Where there is self leadership, there is self control, orderliness and proper placement of things. Right values are promoted and priority given to things that are more important. “All things are lawful unto me, but I will not be brought under the power of any” 1 Corinthians 6:12 (KJV). Self leadership liberates one from addictive control of things. It frees one to use money without being under the control of mammon. “All things are lawful for me, but all things edify not” 1 Corinthians 10:23 (KJV). Some people stumble into great wealth or high positions and lose control of themselves to the abusive control and influence of power of wealth or position. The result is that they lose the fear of God and regard for others, carried away with pride and power drunk, such people resort to immoral lives impulsive spending and colossal waste of resources. Such people may not think of empowering others or making sound investments.
King David saw himself in power and position of great influence and the first thing that occurred to him was to marry more wives and begat more sons and daughters. His son Solomon equally lost control when he was faced with great wealth and lofty height and power. Solomon took many wives and many concubines.
We see the same trend in the lives of most politicians and some ministers of the gospel. Most times when Christians begin to enjoy great wealth and power; they get so power drunk that it begins to affect their Christian lives. One cannot serve God and mammon. This explains why self leadership is very important so we can have money, power and influence without coming under their abusive control. Like Apostle Paul, we should learn to abound and to abase. “Neither height nor depth, riches nor poverty” should separate us from the love of God.
PRAYER: Lord, prepare me to manage the coming greatness in Jesus name.
