“That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” Ephesians 5:27(KJV).
The church that Jesus gave his life for is meant to be a glorious church. Nothing short of that will be acceptable. He did not sacrifice his life for a sinful or shameful church. The reason he died on the cross was to raise a people who have lost God’s glory as a result of the fall, to a place of glory. He took man’s shame and sin so that he can bring the fallen man back to the place of righteousness and glory.
To bring man to this place of glory, Jesus shed his blood on the cross to wash the sinner and cleanse him from sin. He sent his word for the renewing of the mind. The responsibility of presenting the church to himself as a glorious church is purely the work of Christ. He is committed to the removing of every spot, wrinkle or any blemish. No man can present the church blameless. He removes the spots by daily cleansing the church which is his body so the church will attain its glorious status. Christ will not come for sickly, weak, reproachful or mediocre church. He is daily committed to the cleansing of the church by his word. The church may look so weak and imperfect today but he that has begun the good work is able to finish it. He will not do a half work neither will he abandon the church; he will complete the good work. The spots, wrinkles and blemishes we see in the church today should concern us but it should not cause disillusionment because the church is the body of Christ and the owner promised that he will build the church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. He will perfect the church and present it to himself a glorious church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing but that it should be holy and without any blemish.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I yield to your word to perfect everything concerning me.
