“Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed , because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers” 2 Chronicles 13:18(KJV)
The reason Judah prevailed over Israel was because they relied or depended upon God. It pays to depend upon God. Abijah brought the God of their fathers to the battlefield, Jeroboam brought idols and human military strategy and might. Abijah was bold to declare their dependency on God, Jeroboam was quiet, plotting and strategizing. The bible says “But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them: so they were before Judah and the ambushment was behind them” 2 Chron. 13:13(KJV). What a great military strategy. However the bible said Judah exercised their power of dependency on God. They cried unto the LORD. “Then the men of Judah gave a shout and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah” This goes to confirm the scriptures that the race is not to the swift, neither the battle to the strong, it is the Almighty God that determines the affairs of life. At the formation and setting of the battle in arrays the war seems to have tilted in favour of Jeroboam but when God came in, the equation changed in favour of Abijah and Judah.
Life is a continuous battle. There are spiritual wars to fight. These life battles cannot be worn by power or by might. We need to continuously depend on our God. I John 5:4(KJV) says “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith”. Our faith in the word of God and our complete trust and confidence in our God is our overcoming power. In the face of life raging storms we must put our trust in God and exercise our right as the children of the Most High God. Nothing intimidates the devil like our firm knowledge of who we are in redemption. We are the children of light born in due season. We carry the authority of God our father. We are sealed for victory and triumph. We are the sons of the Most High God. We must begin to intimidate our adversary with our credentials. The bible says, and the men of Judah gave a shout. We must open our mouth and declare our identity to our adversary. This is our redemptive right – to use the name of Jesus Christ to stamp our authority on all aspect of life.
Prayer: Father, thank you for giving me power to depend on you and the name of Jesus Christ as my seal of authority.
