“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour” -1 Thess. 4:3-4(KJV).
In our Christian race God demands holiness. God demands that we live a life of sanctification. We are requested to abstain from immoral activities. When we gave our life to Christ we were sanctified. “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” 1 Corinthians 6:11(KJV). Our major channel of sanctification is through the word. A continuous intake of the word into our spirit produces sanctification in us. We are sanctified by the truth and the word of God is truth. “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”. John 17:16-17(KJV). The word of God is a sanctifier of our soul. The word is the food of the spirit. A life filled with the word is a life sanctified. When our spirit is fed with the word the Holy Spirit uses it to cleanse and evacuate our system of unwanted acts such as the thought of immorality, hatred, contentions, unforgiveness, avarices and malice. We cannot abstain from immorality except by the entrance of His word and the help of the Holy Spirit. “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory , even as by the Spirit of the LORD”. Sanctification is the will of God concerning us as Christians. Our sanctification is a continuous and progressive work of grace in our lives. “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day”. Proverbs 4:18(KJV). We are redeemed to live a sanctified life for without holiness no man shall see God.(Hebrews 12:14). “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness”. 1 Thess. 4:7(KJV). We must possess our vessel in sanctification and honour.
There is the false doctrine of grace that is spreading through the entire universe luring men to live a life of lewdness turning the grace of God into living life unchecked. It is not new but are placed under condemnation. “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our savior Jesus Christ”. Jude 1:4(KJV). My dear reader there is need to be committed to serving God in holiness.
Prayer: Father grant me the grace to live a life of sanctification so that my life will bring you honour and pleasure.
