“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words”
Paul the great Apostle said in 1 Corinthians 15:19(KJV) “If in this life only we have Christ, we are of all men most miserable”. The whole of Christianity is hinged on the fact that Christ is coming back to ransom his own from this wicked world before Satan will unleash its venom called the tribulation era. In our scripture of today Apostle Paul vividly describe the event that is most pertinent in the heart of every true believer (1 Thess. 4: 13-17(KJV)). It is the greatest hope of every believer and it is based on the teaching of Christ himself in Matthew 24:44(KJV) “Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh””. We are in earnest expectation of the coming of Christ, when we shall meet him and behold the face of our Beloved Master and Saviour. We hold dear to our heart this expected wonderful union with our Lord and Saviour.
However in today’s Christianity, believers behave as if Christ coming has been cancelled. Our action does not represent that of a people who are expecting back the King of kings and Lord of lords. We treat issues with levity, behave in a manner not befitting of God’s children. We indulge in stealing public funds, playing prostitution, engaging in lies and deceptions in the name of politics, we fight among ourselves and destroy one another and above all we engage in betraying one another. The people of the world cannot see any reason to call us the blessed of the Lord. The world cannot find any difference between believers and unbelievers. We seem to have lost hope. Some of us even nurse a secret believe that Christ may not actually come physically to take us home. Some have started teaching strange doctrines on the second coming of Christ. Jesus himself in John 14:1-3 categorically stated that he has gone to prepare us a place and will come back to take us home.
My dear reader don’t be weary, but hold on to your believe and trust in the promises of our God for “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”. This is why Apostle Paul said “wherefore comfort one another with these words”.
Prayer: Father give me the grace to hold on to your promise unwavering.
