“AND HE SOUGHT God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper”- 2 Chronicles 26:5(KJV)
King Uzziah is one of the bible characters that is a good case for study. In verse 4 of today’s reading (2 Chronicles 26) the bible said Uzziah did that which was right in the sight of God, according to all that his father Amaziah did. King Uzziah was not ignorant of the benefit of working with a true prophet of God. He followed after the footstep of his grandfather who aligned himself to Jehoiada, the priest who gave him godly counsel. He understood the importance of working with a true prophet of God for direction and counsel. He sought after God with a true heart and gave prominence to the counsel of a prophet of God. The scripture said as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper. The prosperity of Uzziah was not only in material things but in military might and equipment which gave him superiority over his enemies. He had a well-trained army that is equipped to the teeth. He evolved a high degree of animal husbandry. He invented war machines. The bible said Uzziah was greatly helped by God. Uzziah knew that he needed to give God His place in governance for him to be successful. He leaned on a true prophet and sought God with all his heart. He was committed to following after God’s instruction and he prospered greatly.
The story of Uzziah gives credence to Matthew 6:33(KJVB) “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. This is to say that when you run after God those things that men kill themselves for – riches, wealth and material gains – will be running after you. God is the creator of all things as stated in Psalm 89:11(KJV); “The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fullness thereof thou hast founded them”. When you crave and seek the creator of the earth, it is for Him to direct you to where he located the diamonds, sapphire and gold. He owns all thing and kept them for those who love him. As the king sought after God and prospered and was greatly helped, so also are they who have found the love of God in their life. That is why the scripture says “But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” -Phil. 4:19(KJV). Again the scriptures says in 2 Corinthians 8:9(KJV); “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich”. Beyond riches and wealth, God also vowed to protect you from the wicked ones. Both in riches and defence God will answer for you because you are diligently following Him. God swore your protection in Isaiah 41:10 (KJV) “Fear thou not, for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”. In the subsequent verses of this scripture the LORD began to declare what will happen to your enemies.
My dear reader, the God of abundance who alone does wondrous things has promised to bless you and protect you. So what is your attraction for still remaining in the camp of the wicked? Run out from the camp of the evil one and embrace life and abundance in Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Oh’ God let your word find full manifestation in my life.
