“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” – 2 Timothy 1:7(KJV).
Our God could not have given His only begotten Son to die for us and make us recipients of the spirit of fear. No way! Fear is a tormentor and an intimidator. It negates faith and reduces a man to a perpetual victim of whims and caprices of satanic manipulation. Fear ruptures destiny and reduces someone to a destitute. It is a major producer of failure. Fear is the spirit of bondage that takes a man captive. “Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father”– Romans 8:15(KJV). Fear is defined as a “strong, uncontrollable, unpleasant emotion caused by actual or perceived danger or threat”. This is the fear that takes a man captive and devalues his personality and disrobe him of his nobility. God cannot and has not given us this. Three things God has given us will be discussed below:-
POWER: The scripture says in John 1:12-13(KJV), “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”.We know that all power belongs to God as confirmed by the scriptures in Psalm 62:11(KJV), “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this ; that power belongeth unto God”. Therefore if power belongs to God and according to His divine power he has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), it then means that we have received power to live a victorious life.
LOVE: God’s love was given to us unreservedly and without measure to secure us from the power of the wicked. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”– Romans 5:8(KJV). This love was manifested in Christ and was given unto us “And hope maketh not ashamed; because THE LOVE OF GOD is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us”.
A SOUND MIND. The entrance of the Spirit of God into our life opens up our mentality and sharpens our intellect. Jesus is the power of God and wisdom of God and when we receive him into our life we take in the wisdom of God into our life and begins to operate with divine wisdom. The seven dimension of the operation of the Holy Ghost which we have received at redemption and outpouring is the release of supernatural mental ability. Like Daniel we have an excellent spirit and a sound mind which we received from Christ Jesus. Isaiah 11:3(KJV) says; “And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD:…”. We receive a higher level of insight at the entrance of the Holy Spirit via the Spirit of knowledge and understanding.
From the above it is very certain that a Christian life is an enviable one which should be longed for. There is no addition to completeness, our salvation in Christ is complete. The bible says we are complete in him who is the head of principality and power. It is my pleasure to invite the reader to the enviable life in Christ.
