“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of which I am chief” – 1 Timothy 1:15(KJV)
We shall be looking at the other faithful sayings that are worthy of acceptation. We looked into the purpose of Christ coming into the world and concluded that he came to set us free from the power of sin and satan. We agreed from scriptures that his coming was initiated by God’s love for humanity and that it is also a gift. Today we shall be looking at the second acceptation as follows:-
Godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of life now and of that which is to come (1 Timothy 4:8-9). Godliness, in our context for today, refers to righteousness, devout, pious etc. Redemption provides us with the spiritual foundation that enables us to live a godly life. This is properly stated in 2 Peter 1:3(KJV): “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” By his divine power, he died at the cross, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven. At resurrection Jesus made a proclamation in Matthew 28:18(KJV): “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Speaking about this power, the writer of Revelation narrated a scene in heaven about a book at the right hand of Him that sat at throne that was sealed with seven seals. The scriptures says in Revelation 5: 3(KJV): “And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.” The scriptures recorded that John the Apostle wept much because no man was able to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. However, “And one of the elder saith unto me (John), Weep not: behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” This is the Lamb without blemish, He who claimed that He is the resurrection and life. He is the one who has prevailed to open the book sealed with seven seals. This is Him who, according to His divine power, have given us all things that belong to, relate to and apply to life and godliness. Those things are well embedded in our seven fold inheritance in Christ that are spelt out in Revelation 5:12(KJV): “…Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” These are what He made available to us by His divine power.
My dear reader, at new birth we are made recipients of the seven-fold inheritance as stated in Colossians 1:12(KJV): “Giving thanks to the father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.” This is why godliness is profitable in all things; both here on earth, and in the life to come. On earth you are destined for exploits and outstanding results. You are, by new birth, ordained to be a pace-setter and a solution provider. You are destined for the top because living a godly life releases divine wisdom into us which catapults us to the mountain top. May your eyes be open to see the unsearchable riches of Christ inherent in redemption.
Prayer: Thank you for the great inheritances open to me at redemption.
