“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” – James 3:10 KJV
When a farmer sows an orange seed, he expects to reap oranges. He cannot expect the same tree to bear orange fruit as well as apple fruit. But this is the expectation of most of us Christians. We pray to God with our mouth and minutes later, we use the same mouth to curse others! And we expect both to be honoured . How can this be?
The bible says in Proverbs 18:21 KJV: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” This shows that whatever we speak with our tongue will bear fruit. If it curses, it will bear fruit so also is blessing. As curses attract evil so also blessing attract goodness.
God has given us a choice as to what we attract to ourselves. It is therefore in our interest to attract blessings to ourselves by ensuring we speak positively at all times.
This can best be achieved by our continous studying of the word of God and being doers of the word. The more of the word you know and truly apply, the more you live a life of righteousness and the more you speak blessings.
Prayer: Father, help me to make the right choices in the way I use my tongue at all times in Jesus name.
