Bible Reading: Psa. 3; 1 Pet. 4:1-10
“I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.”- Psalm 3:5 KJV.
A man that has problem passing urine will have to go to the hospital to see a doctor. After examination, he may have to undergo surgery for him to be able to urinate comfortably thereafter. Imagine how much money, he needs to pay for consultancy and then the surgery. Meanwhile, the man has urinated for several years without paying any money to God who created him and ensured his ability to pass out urine.
That is just a small part of the human body. Imagine all the parts of the body that we have without any issue, and we do not have to pay anyone for a functioning body. Even our ability to wake up from sleep depends on God. That is what the Psalmist is saying in Psalm 3:5 KJV: “I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.”
We owe God our life, our health and all our possessions. There is nothing owned by us that is not given by God. This implies that we should show gratitude to God Almighty at all times for his love and divine provisions. However we should realize that God sustains us for a purpose. We need to find out that purpose and work on fulfilling it.
But one general purpose for every child of God is winning souls for God’s kingdom. This is aptly stated in John 15:2 KJV: “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” This means any person that does not win soul unto the Kingdom of God should expect to be taken away by God. Whereas anyone who wins souls would be blessed so that he can win more.
Prayer/Affirmation: Father, I make commitment to you today to win souls unto your kingdom, please help me God.
