Bible Reading: Psa. 6; 1 Pet. 5:8-14.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8 KJV
The mind is the battle ground of the devil. It sends various temptations to the mind for one to fall. However the choice is yours as to whether to accept the offers of the devil or position of the Almighty God. This is why 1 Peter 5:8 KJV says: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
You are to be vigilant at all times recognizing that the devil sets traps all over looking for ways to lure God’s kingdom members into his camp. He does this by appealing to the flesh as stated in 1 John 2:16 KJV: “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
When the devil appeals to the flesh using the basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and it’s not enticing you, then it moves to lust of the eyes showing good things that money can buy. So the instrument here is money. Where this also fails to win you over, he will use the third option which is position. Knowing that people value status, position or authority, he would suggest things that can give you pride in your achievement. When you are able to discern, you will not fall victim of any of the tactics of the devil. You can reply him like the Lord Jesus in Luke 4:8 KJV: “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
To be able to do this successfully, you need to be sober and vigilant. And knowing the word of God gives you confidence to face the devil at all times! How much of the word of God do you know? The devil will not devour you or your family in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father keep the devil far away from me and my household in Jesus name.
