…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 02/01/2017

Bible Reading: Psalm 9, 2 Peter 1: 8 – 14

“I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous work. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to your name, O thou most High. When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence” Psalm 9: 1-3(KJV).

Coming from the knowledge we gained yesterday from the scriptures on the power of praise, the above meditational scriptures vividly portray the authenticity of praise from the Psalmist who, as a king, witnessed divine interventions. From the above passage we can deduce the following:-

  1. Praise is a product of the heart that is poured forth from the mouth. “I will praise the, O LORD with my whole heart” and “I will sing praise to your name, O thou most High”. Again the Psalmist said in Psalm 149: 6(KJV): “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth”. We praise God out of our knowledge of Him, His power and might and marvelous work. The Psalmist said “I will shew forth all your marvelous work”. The knowledge of these marvelous work is conceived and resides in the heart while its declaration is by our mouth.
  2. The praise we render from the heart unto God attracts His divine presence. “they shall fall and perish at thy presence.” This assertion is evidenced in the march of Israel out of Egypt to the promise land. “Judah (praise) was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.” – Psalm 114:2(KJV). God was resident in the praise of Israel which consequently gave Israel dominion. The sea saw it and fled, Jordan was driven back. Mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. When we praise God, His presence with us will cause men to tremble and fear. Through praise God executes vengeance and punishment on our adversaries.(Psalm 149:7&9).
  3. When we praise the Lord His presence will cause our enemies to turn back, fall and perish. God responds to our praise by His presence and His praise puts all evil to flight.

The place of praise in the life of a Christian is a place of victory. A praiseful life is God’s habitation and is a joyful life. Now knowing the value of praise in our Christian race it is our responsibility to make praise to be at the core of our Christian value. Our daily engagement of praise will result in our daily victory and upliftment. Can there be any reason why we should not engage in such exercise? Position yourselves therefore to live a life of praise.

Prayer: Father, remove from me anything that can stop my praise to you at all times.
