Bible Reading: Psalm 45, Revelation: 4: 1-11.
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power, for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” – Revelation 4:11(KJV).
This verse of scripture became a popular song notably among the Pentecostals as a worship song. Most people in Christendom sing this song without taking time to gain the inspiration from it. Christ is worthy to receive glory, honour and power because all things were created by Him, and He created all for his pleasure. In the operation of the Godhead creation, was accomplished by the Father, Son (Word of God) and the Holy Spirit. “In the beginning… And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” – Genesis 1:1-2(KJV). When God spoke he released the Word, and the Spirit of God that moved upon the waters swung into action bringing God’s intention to manifestation. Nothing was created without the Word. It is by the Word that God created all things. John 1: 1-3(KJV) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him: and without him was not any thing made that was made.” Not only was the Word with God, but He was God. By him all things consist. “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominion, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him and for him. And he is before all things, and by him all things consist” – Colossians 1:16-17(KJV).
All things were created by him for his pleasure. I want you to take time to imagine the weight, size, dimension, power, might, glory, majesty and honour of the person you were created for his pleasure. Now because humanity was part of the things created and authority was given to man as god to rule over other physical world for the pleasure of God the Son, it became imperative that when man lost authority given to him to Satan by disobedience, He, the creator Word (God, the Son), has to come as a man to ransom man, retrieve the lost authority and reinstate man, who he now refers to as brethren (Hebrews 2:10-12). Christ became became the first among the firstborns (Romans 8:29,, Colossians 1:15,18, Hebrew 12:23), He became the captain of our salvation (Hebrew 2:10). He executed the task of our redemption, not only to redeem us but to, through our love, bond with him and derive the pleasure which we were originally created to give him. We also became the sons of God by adoption which bestowed upon us heirship to God and joint heir with Him (Christ).
The question every man must then ask himself is this; does my life – way of life, attitude, actions and behavior – bring pleasure to Christ Jesus? Can the Almighty God smile on me and derive pleasure in the way I live and relate to my fellow man? You need to answer this questions because failure to consider these questions may be very regrettable, for when you stop deriving pleasure from anything you possess, the next option is disposal.
Prayer: Father, grant me the grace to be a source of pleasure to you.
