Bible Reading: Psalm 54, Revelation: 10: 1-11
“Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth” – Psalm 54:1-2(KJV).
Most times we find ourselves in a most terrible situation where we cry out for help to God. We are in desperation to be delivered from a frightening situation that threatens our existence. When we put absolute trust in the ability of our God to deliver us, we can depend on the all-powerful name of God to protect us from the evil tidings. The wise one said in Proverbs 18:10(KJV), “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into in, and is safe.” God has given us a name that is above every other name, to which every knee must bow to. “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth” – Philippians 2:9-10(KJV). It is noteworthy, then, that the Psalmist sought salvation by His name. We are underutilizing the name of Jesus Christ. That name, when applied in faith from a sanctified heart, carries tremendous power that the enemy cannot stand.
When God comes in judgement for you against your enemies, it is an overwhelming devastation in the enemies camp. When God judges a man upright by His strength, it means putting his eternal seal of protection upon such a person. It is equal to saying that such a person is abiding under the defence and protection of the Almighty God. That is when the LORD becomes your refuge and fortress. (Psalm 91:1-2).
The bible says in Proverbs 16:1(AMP): “The plans of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the (wise) answer of the tongue.” It is with our mouth that we speak what we have worked on in our heart, so when we have put together our heart desire we present it to God as prayer like the Psalmist did. God will give answer to the tongue. However, God regards the prayer of an unlawful man as an abomination (Proverbs 28:9), but the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James5:16).
What is the take-in our write up? That living a God-driven life, always abiding in his presence and being obedient to divine instruction guarantees us God’s all-round protection in and out of season. Please note that God does not waste His resources protecting those who live in unlawfulness, abasement and decadence. Stop every riotous living and follow after Christ. Give your battered life to God to give it a meaning. God loves you and has proven it by the coming, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Father, like David, I seek your salvation from the hand of the wicked all through my life.
