Bible Reading: Psalm 64, Revelation: 20
“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” – Rev. 20:14-15(KJV)
A lake is defined as a large pool of liquid. It is geographically defined as an expanse of water entirely surrounded by land and unconnected to the sea except by rivers or stream. So when the bible speaks of a lake of fire it a very large pool of liquid fire. Even death and hell will be cast into this lake of fire. And whosoever his or her name is not found written in the book of life. Is your name written in the book of life?
Those who have been washed with the blood of Jesus and are sanctified, who manifest the fruit of the Spirit and have crucified the flesh are the ones whose names are written in the book of life. Can you in all sincerity look at your life past and present and beat your hand on your chest and say my name is there? Is your Christianity a demonstration of outward appearance but lacking righteousness inside? As a Christian what do you do in secret that contradicts God’s love? Remember that on that day the God who created man that manufactured the video camera will be on duty to expose the act of men. What a terrible day it will be. Some of us are running our Christian race recklessly as if we are dealing with man. Will the God who created the inventor of the video camera not have records? Many will be shocked that day. If only on earth we have Christ and there is no life after death then Christianity is not worthwhile. This is what Paul meant in 1 Corinthians 15:19(KJV): “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
Think about it you doubting Thomas’! If you die and this becomes a reality what will you do in hell knowing that there is no repentance in the grave. Do you prefer to live in eternity burning in hell with regrets forever or to merit heaven and live in eternal bliss? It will be most painful in hell when you realized that you had the opportunity to avoid it but your carelessness eroded your reasoning. The scriptures says in Hebrew 10:26-27, 31(KJV): “For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking judgment and fiery indignation , shall devour the adversaries. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” My prayer for the reader of this piece is that you will not end up in the lake of fire. For you that is very active for God in the physical but live in sin secretly, hear the statement of Apostle Paul in Hebrew 9:27(KJV): “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” When you are judged, what will be the verdict from God who is in possession of all your actions and deeds since the day you were born? Consider the bible verse above and ask yourself, if this is true will I prefer going to this horrible place to be for eternity?
Please if your answer is no, then know that it is time you run to God and accept His love extended to you now. Accept Jesus Christ into your life now and be born again so you can avoid this fearful indignation of God waiting for judgment.
Prayer: Father, endue me with the spirit of the fear of the LORD, so I can serve you acceptably all the days of my remaining life on earth.
