Bible Reading: Psalm 83:1-18
“Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult and they that hate thee have lifted up the head” – Psalm 83:1-2(KJV).
The decision to eliminate the heritage of God has been on from ages. As we are witnessing it in increasing measure in our days and time, it was not in any way strange to the people of old. In the days of Esther, Haman attempted to exterminate the seeds of the Jews. In the days of Pharaoh, the children of Israel possibly would have stayed longer in the land of captivity if the order to kill all male children had caught up with Moses. But God, whose timing man cannot change, made a provision for the preservation of His life.
Raging and roaring against the people of God had been, is on now and shall be till the return of our Redeemer. This account for the reason why we sing this song:
“Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war
With the cross of Jesus going on before
Christ the royal Master leads against the foe
Forward into battle see his banner go”
For ages, crafty counsel and evil consultation has taken place to wreck havoc against the people of God. But the good news is that each time such counsel is taken against us, it is directly against God Himself. The forces may be uncountable just as we see in our text of eight to nine nations. The Psalmist offered serious prayer riding upon the testimony of the past, hence, he says: “do unto them as unto the Midianite; as to Sisera, as to Jabin at the brook of Kison: Which perish at Endor: they became as dung for the earth. Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah and Zalmuna” – Psalm 83:9-11(KJV)
Folks, no one can destroy the body of Christ. The Master Himself has spoken “………I will build my church: and the gates of hell shall prevail not against it” Matt 16:18(KJV). Stand against the activities of raging and roaring against the people of God in any part of the world. Do not be frightened and throw not away your confidence in the light of all that is happening around us now. We are more than conquerors through Christ!
Prayer: Lord Almighty, confound all those who are raging and battling against your church in Jesus name.
