Bible Reading: Psalm 92:1 – 15
“Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God” – Psalm 92:13(KJV).
Have you ever imagined God as a farmer? No wise farmer will chose to plant his best seeds on a land that is not fertile. Instead he looks for the very best, most suitable land to establish his seeds. This is how God works. God does not establish the righteous in a spiritual desert. God establishes the righteous in his own house; and sustains him and causes him to flourish in his courts. The righteous finds all that is needed for him/her to be productive because he/she has been established by God.
When a man is established by God, he/she will flourish like a palm tree and experience growth like the Cedar of Lebanon (vs. 12). In their old age their productivity will not be diminished, they will be fresh, young and useful (vs. 14). God takes His time to care for what he has established. He prunes them continuously to ensure that they are always healthy and productive even in their old age.
The basic requirement for God to establish a man is for the man to be righteous. When a man is righteous he enjoys the providence of God. The wicked, ungodly and unrighteous do not enjoy this. In fact the desires of the righteous shall be executed on the wicked (vs. 11).
Do you desire to be productive in all areas of your life? Do you want to be active and relevant even in your old age? All you need to do is stay tuned to righteousness, because God establishes the righteous. This righteousness is found in Christ Jesus: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; in order that we might become the righteousness of God” – 2 Cor. 5:21.
Prayer: Father, give me grace to remain in the righteousness of Christ.
