Bible Reading: Psalm 102:1-28
“Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her , yea, the set time, is come” – Psalm 102:13(KJV)
There is always a set time. There are times and seasons for everything under heaven. God is the master of orderliness. “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” – Eccl. 3:1(KJV). God is His perfection has put all things in their proper perspective, apportioning season and time to everything under heaven. Nothing happens by chance, all things happen with God’s clear knowledge because nothing is hidden from Him. Before our God all things are made bare. Again the bible says in Eccl. 3:11(KJV), “He made everything beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end”. It is the gift of God for any man to be able to know times and season. This was the blessing of the children of Issachar “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…” – 1 Chronicles 12:32(KJV).
The Psalmist poured out his heart to God for deliverance in his time of distress and reminded God that the set time to show Israel favour has come. This is so because “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”. Psalm 30:5(KJV). This is the word of God which is very well known to the writer of the book of Psalms. Most time in the wilderness experience it may look as if it will never end but God is saying to someone passing through hard times due to his errors in life that His anger will not linger on. Hold on, his favour and joy is in your next step.
God loves His children, but there are spiritual laws instituted by God that cannot be broken. One of such laws is stated in Ezekiel 18:4(KJV) “behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die” . God words are ye and amen and he cannot break what He had uttered. Man sinned in the garden of Eden and death came upon man as a result of this law “…..for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” God’s words are eternal and cannot be altered hence irrespective of God’s love for man the punishment of sin is death. It was for this reason that God sent His Word (which is the embodiment of all the treasures of His divine wisdom, the collective thought and in his incarnation the expression of the Person and ´thought´ of Deity) to undertake the punishment for sin. He became the propitiation and atonement for our sin. He has to take on flesh and blood like us to adequately pay for our sin as demanded by the eternal law of God. Jesus is the only way we can come to God. God’s anger against sin is but for a moment (the span of our life here on earth) but His favour (Jesus Christ) is life (eternal). “….I am come that they may have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” -John 10:10(KJV). FRIEND THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!!
