And if it seem evil for you to the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve ; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.- Joshua 24:15(KJV)
God has given everyone of us freewill and the power of choice. The choice you make today has a far reaching implication on your tomorrow. It is advisable that we should be properly guided in making a choice or taking a decision that has future implication. Our choice of today can be our future undoing. In the above passage Joshua called on the congregation of Israel to make a choice on whom they will serve. They had alternatives to choose from. In every choice that leads to taking decision, there will always be alternative to choose from, that is why it is a choice. How do you choose? What advices your choice? What factors influences your choice? What precedence are you relying on in making your choice? These are very paramount questions that you must ponder on before making your choice.
Are your choices and decisions a reflection of the Word of God? The Psalmist said ” Direct my steps by your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. – Psalm 119: 133(NKJV). In another passage the Psalmist also said “The meek will he guide in judgment, : and the meek will He teach His ways”-Psalm 25:9(KJV). These scriptures inform us of where to go in order for us to make appropriate and good choice – the word of God. In our today’s bible reading Esau had the choice of enduring hunger and find for himself what to eat, but he choose to trade off his birthright and as the bible puts it: thus Esau despised his birthright. This had far reaching future implication for him and his descendants. Like Esau and the children of Israel men are busy today choosing the god of money in the place of the Almighty God.
Beware of your choice and decisions today.
Prayer: Father, guide me in my judgment so that I can make good choices in Life. In Jesus Name
