Bible Reading: Psalm 116:1- 19
“I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and supplications. What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits towards me” – Psalm 116:1&12(KJV)
Our love for God should be a reciprocation of His hand of love first extended to us. God loves us dearly and has so demonstrated in sending His Son to take our place at the cross of Calvary. Our love for God should not be based on what we expect to get from him but for who He is. “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love” – 1 John 4:8(KJV). Our love for God should flow from our knowledge of Him and His deep love demonstrated towards us. Our Love for God should be in awesomeness and deep reverence for Him because His love for man is unfathomable. “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God” – Ephesians 3:19(KJV).
Human knowledge cannot fully comprehend the love of God. It is unimaginable that the creator died for the created so that the created should be exonerated from sin and the penalty of sin, which was instituted by the creator Himself. What a paradox! We, the creature (human), committed sin, but the creator (God), paid for our sin and justified us by His blood and consequently set us free from the condemnation of the law He instituted – “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die” – Ezekiel 18:4(KJV). This kind of love can only come from God.
By the death of Christ and the justification we attained by redemption, we became recipients of God’s divine promise –“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: and I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him” – Psalm 91:15(KJV).
When we pray God answers us because of our standing in Christ and we are sure to receive because it is a divine promise. In Philippians 4:6 the bible admonishes us thus: “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Dear friend, the question is, what will you render unto God for all these wonderful love shown to you? How do you appreciate God for coming in the flesh to pay for your sins? God is not asking for anything other than your total submission to His will and love. John 3:16(KJV) says: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God’s love is ever giving; from paying the price of sin, to giving everlasting life. What a wonderful God! You have opportunity to make amends and find real succour in Christ. The choice is yours. Remain blessed.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to remain ever appreciative of your wonderful love demonstrated towards me in the crucifixion of Christ.
