Bible Reading: Psalm 126:1-6
“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream” – Psalm 126:1 (KJV).
Storms come in different dimensions. It could be in health, family, marriage, career, relationship, business, ministry or finance. Whichever area of life, storms could arise to correct the victim, prevent the victim from worse situation or perfect the weak areas of life.
It is a correcting storm when it arises because of the victim’s disobedience. In Jonah 1:1-4, Jonah was asked by God to go to Nineveh to warn them of their sins so that they could repent. Jonah, noting that Nineveh was a torn in the flesh of Israel in the past, decided that he would not go to Nineveh so that they would not have the opportunity of repenting. By so doing the enemies of Israel would be reduced by one. However, we are not to help God, rather, obey his instruction. When Jonah decided to go to another location via a ship, there was a tumultuous storm to make Jonah to toe the line of God. Hence the storm calmed as soon as Jonah was thrown into the sea and a whale swallowed him and only vomited him at where God sent him!
You need to examine yourself in respect of the storm you are going through to see whether you have been disobedient to God in anyway and ask for mercy. God will still the storm and your story will change for the better like it’s stated in Psalm 126:1 KJV. “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”
On the other hand, your storm could arise because God wants to protect you from greater storm. An example of protecting storm is the man whose fiancé jolted and was really destabilized but God saw that if they had continued, they would have been incompatible leading to bitter divorce.
Action Point: Examine yourself and the storm you are going through and return to God if it’s a correcting storm. Otherwise just give praise to God.
