Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:1- 35
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” – Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
Whatever God says he would do, would be done. It may tarry but it will certainly be done. However, we sometimes equate God with man thinking that he may forget what he says he would do.
In Gen 12:2-3, God said to Abraham that he should leave his country and his brethren and go to a land he would show him. Abraham left with his wife; Sarai and his nephew; Lot. This is contrary to God’s directive as he was not expected to take his nephew or any other member of his family with him. Based on this partial obedience, God did not fulfill his promises to him. This consequential delay in the blessing by God led Sarah to belief that God’s promise of a child may not come again. She possibly thought God had forgotten and she decided to help God by getting an Egyptian slave girl, Haggai, to sleep with her husband and get a child for them.
Abraham agreed with her, slept with the girl and a baby was born to the family. But contrary to Sarah’s expectation that this would give her joy, it gave her more sorrow as the slave girl saw the opportunity to be a wife to Abraham and enjoy the full benefit like Sarah. This created more problem for Abraham and Sarah and their promised child never came until fourteen years later!
So one easy way of delaying God’s blessing is by partial obedience. E.g. when you decide to pay 7% as tithe instead of 10% you should not complain if your heaven is not opened. So have you been partially obeying God that will explain why the blessings of God is not coming to you as expected?
You need to examine yourself and review all areas where you have operated to identify various partial obedience or total disobedience, and take concrete steps to correct them.
Prayer: Father, every area of my life where I have partially obeyed you, please remind me and help me to restitute promptly in Jesus name.
