Bible Reading: Proverbs 12: 1-28
“A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hand shall be rendered unto him” – Proverbs 12:14(KJV)
The life we live is full of diverse activities ranging from secular to spiritual. I have heard many Christians say that the only thing that counts in Christian living is your faith in Christ. This is a misconception resulting from very poor understanding of the scriptures. Jesus was explicit on this subject matter when He said: “A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit….. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Matt. 7:18&20(kjv).
Paul, on his own, while encouraging the Galatians brethren said, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” – Gal. 6:7(KJV). As Christians we should know that our daily deeds, spoken words, actions and thoughts are seeds that we shall surely harvest one day. We should know that as children of God we have become God’s handiworks created in Christ for all good works. “For we are God’s (own) handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus (born anew), that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live)” _ Eph. 2:10 (Amp).
What have you dominated your life with? Is it with good deeds or evil and terrible deeds? You could turn a new leaf today as you repent of your evil deeds and seek forgiveness from God through Jesus Christ who died to set you free. Christ has redeemed you already by his death at Calvary, all that remain is for you to accept him and his salvation which he offers.
Prayer: Lord, since I am your handiwork, release upon me enabling power to be rich in good works in Christ Jesus.
