Bible Reading: Proverbs 13: 1-25
“Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded” – Proverbs 13:13(KJV).
The heart of man has been hardened against the Word of God in such a way that society no longer consider the word for their day to day living. Very few persons are exempted from this evil. It is no wonder the bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:4(KJV): “ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God should shine unto them.” From this scriptural verse it is very clear that the act of blinding the eyes and deafening the ears to the word of God is to frustrate men from accepting Christ and be saved. The word of God is light and whosoever despises it will remain in darkness. Light is the power that destroys darkness, and as such, when men abandon divine guidance through his word they will be exposed to destruction. The word of God, as the light, brings condemnation to them that despise and reject it. John 3:19 says: “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
Neglecting the word of God is at the detriment of your wellbeing because the word of God is the light that guides us to encounter our destiny. The word is the light that guides us out of darkness. “To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” – Luke 1:79(KJV). Not being committed to the infallible word of life has robbed several people of what they should have had access to.
Think about areas where the word has come to you and you deliberately despise it. The word may have come via text message, preaching of a particular man of God, reading of an inspirational book etc…. The Holy Spirit actually want you to apply this word in your life for easy access to the wondrous things contained therein. Take a review of your life and see where you have turned your back to the Word of God. Note that it is this Word that transforms life and provides balance in the storm of life.
Friend, never attempt to depart from God’s word, it is the power that brings salvation to us whenever the enemy strikes. “The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death” – Proverbs 13:14(KJV)
Prayer: Father, Give me the grace to stay put in Your Word always.
