Bible Reading: Proverbs 23:1-35
“For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut-off” – Proverbs 23:18 (KJV)
The ups and downs of life sometimes make us think that we have a very bleak future. Sometimes we dwell in the gloom, we think that since we are going through the seemingly unbearable moment, then there cannot be a brighter future. That to me is a lie from the pit of hell. When we do not lose track of the instructions of the Owner of our lives, we can be rest assured that He shall swing into action over our case no matter how long it may appear to be. The Scripture is full of those who passed through unpleasant moments in life, but at the end had every reason to give glory to God. Among these characters are Joseph and Jesus.
The story of Joseph spans between Genesis 37 to 50. His ordeal started when he began to relate the dreams given to him by God to his brothers. He probably thought that they would be available to provide the necessary impetus to the speedy realization of the dream. Folks, the reverse was the case because they hated him the more. This hatred was seen in the action they put up by selling him into a far country. They thought getting rid of him shall eternally bury the manifestation of God’s glory meant for him. Oh! They missed! Joseph went through all and eventually became the Prime Minister in the land of Egypt. He was even the one that salvaged his people from the terrible famine which possibly would have finished them.
Jesus Christ, our Master and Saviour, passed through unbearable moments in the hands of the Pharisees and the powers that be in His days. He stood for the truth and eventually released His life for our Salvation. He was scourged, lied against, and many terrible things were done against Him. Paul remarks, “Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” – 1 Cor 2:6-8(KJV).
Whatever you are going through at the moment is preparing you for the glory that is ahead of you. Do not back out, do not bow in, keep pressing on because surely there is hope for you and your expectation shall not be cut-off. Finally, do not throw away your sense of diligence as you await a brighter future. “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men” -Proverbs 22:28 (KJV).
Prayer Point: Dear Father, re-fuel and re-fire my determination on my path to glory in Jesus name.
